NMV moves Kiruna’s bell tower

Nybergs Mekaniska Verkstad and LTH Traktor are commissioned to move Kiruna’s famous bell tower.

Kiruna town hall’s expressive bell tower from 1963, with ornaments by sculptor Bror Marklund, has become synonymous with Kiruna’s cityscape.

Now the 26-metre high tower is being moved to Kiruna’s new city centre, and it is Nybergs Mekaniska Verkstad and LTH Traktor that are commissioned to carry out the move. The bell tower will be dismantled into six parts before it is moved to its new location in the middle of the square next to Kiruna’s future town hall, Kristallen.
